Gottfried, just read the last two or three weeks of posts on this board. If you do not know by then why California has the problems it has with electric power, I cannot help you.

Try reading the last 200 posts on this thread...

I don't want to search back through them and put them all here.. but some of the highlights are

lack of support for e&p... no drilling exploration in california
lack of support for new powerplants...not in my backyard mentality
poor planning in regards to deregulation...forced power sellers to divest power plants

there are many other points....someone help me here.. anyway.. reading back into the past posts here, it is all laid out.....

When I lived in California some years back, Davis was state comptroller. State income tax refunds came in a plain envelope with little print, except for the big words: "from Grey Davis" on the left side. Too bad PG&E and Socal Edison can't get some of those envelopes to stuff with next years bills. The rates will have to pass through to the consumer. Davis is toast for re-election, as someone else put it. That's why he's pink.
