I re-read your post, my original interpretation still stands. But that's neither here nor there.

Re: what type of recovery, and how long?

One of my earlier posts I alluded to the potential of a more severe recession as a result of the false economy component driven by the stock market. The upside since then is a Bush administration who I think has different plans. An IR cut from Greenspan or Tax cut from Bush.
What would it take to get both?

MH

I was looking at the DELL advertisement in the Wall Street Journal today and it appears that DELL's pricing on P3 and Celeron systems is extremely aggressive.

$499 for a 64M Celeron w/o monitor
$899 for 866MHZ P3 w/0 monitor

I suspect that DELL is taking a lot of Gateway and Compaq's
consumer business this Christmas. Michael D. stated a few weeks ago that they had let their competitors off the mat and he was going to put them back down. Now is a good time to go after marketshare.

Funny thing is....I don't know anyone who voted for Bush because of a possible tax cut....polls show most people want us to pay off the deficit 1st...why Bush felt compelled to keep this front and center for the past 2 years is beyond me.....

With the surplus going (way) down, the point is likely mute...given the election fiasco, Bush also has no mandate for a big tax cut anyway...if he is honest with the American people (and himself), he'll scale it back dramatically....

The American people elected a moderate (not Bush or Gore)..I hope W. remembers that...
