When everyone starts to think about going short - is the time to go long.

asker2, that's something I've been considering too, but....

A&P's way works, no doubt, and works very well, IF you have deep enough pockets, and the balls, to stick it out.

Now I may be dead wrong here, but seems to me, if you're like many of us, without the really deep pockets and those balls, that the short term shorts, are about the same, as playing the momo's or any other short term trading.

When Anthony and his crew, jump on an overinflated, scammy, hyped, touted, email blasted BB, there is ABSOLUTELY no doubt in my mind that the stock is going to tank short term, and if they put the full court press on it, GTO, or be suspended and if lucky, come back pink.

And chickenshit....or realist that I am, if I was long on something like ECNC, or SEVU, and they came over......I would be gone in a split second.

When Anthony, calls some big Naz a short, at $30, or $60, or $280, again, I have no doubt given his record, that it's likely a great short.

Problem is, in a bull market, can us little guys, stick it out? When that short at $30, runs to $80, are you and I gritting our teeth, sticking to our convictions that it IS a POS, and shorting more, and waiting the months, or years it may take? Or did we take our lumps, at $32 already?

Another but....but damn, I wish I'd been shorting a ton of stuff the last 9 months.

By the time everyone starts talking about shorting, it's time to go the other way - it is already overdone. Kind of like all the penny stock hypes that accelerate in Feb/Mar. If you are not already in it, stick with what you know. The shorters in the money are those who have been going short since pigs started flying last February, and some of them were quite justified.

I am a contrarian much of the time. On the other hand, the trend is your friend, or "You can't fart against thunder...". It is still the same game in reverse and there are likely opportunities on both sides of the fence all the time. Right now there's more on the short side without doubt. It takes a sophisticated investor to be able to comfortably think out of both sides of their brain - that's the long and short of it IMO.
