I'm sure there are many times you listen to us and think, Thank God I don't have kids!
Do you and Sue have any extended family at all that you still see?

I just heard that one of CW's classmates died this weekend from a drug overdose. I can't imagine what that family is going through, what the holidays will forever mean to them.

I talked to my brother yesterday and they had taken a wreath to their son's grave. They leave town and go to their place in Myrtle Beach for CHristmas. It's just too painful.

Children are never out of your thoughts. I am realizing as mine get older that nothing really changes. You worry just as much, love just as much. It's like having horses and dogs, but a lot worse- and a lot better.

Of course, kids usually don't jump up and chew your face off.

They go directly for your heart.

In the mall, CW and I were in line in back of a baby who was cooing and gurgling at us. The mom was so proud. (Most of the time babies cry and are horrible in stores and embarrass you, so times when they are appealing must be savored). She was telling us how much he had grown.

"My baby grew, too." I looked at CW, who almost died.
(I got the Mom-m-m- look)
THe woman looked at CW and I KNEW she couldn't begin to understand. To her CW was a man, independent, not needy, certainly not her idea of a cuddly baby.
I tried to explain to them that when I look at him I still see that little fat bundle and feel all those same things. But CW just wanted to get out of the store before I started talking about toilet-training.
I get weird like that around holidays.
