I have to say that nothing really beats Welch's grape jelly on a PB&J, and so I think purism is misplaced in that instance. It is like insisting on Chinese food without MSG: the flavor suffers, and who needs that? As for jellybeans, I consider it an affront to a great American to express any doubt on their beneficial properties. If they were good enough for Ronald Reagan, they are good enough for me (on occasion, that is). Of course, sometimes gumdrops suit the palate more, and I am very fond of those crescent shaped jellied, fruit flavored candies. Now, on toast, orange marmalade is frequently the ticket, and raspberry preserves can be sublime. But the very best, especially on toasted English muffins, is apple butter, which gets beyond jelly of any kind.And bagels, well, don't get me started.......<VBG>>............
