After all, most American GIs who landed in Europe in 1944 were only 17 years old --same thing with thousands of Wehrmacht soldiers....

Actually, that age is incorrect. The average age of GI in WWII was in the mid-20s as I recall.

And yes... as I search the internet to verify this, I am once more astounded at the bounty of resources available through your average search engine... <VBG>

The average age of a GI in WWII was 26. In Vietnam, the average age was 19.

But the bottom line Gustave is that the Palestinian and Arab values are not always reflective of what most Westerners hold dear. We fought WWII, in part, against a foe who believed that dying in the name of the Emperor was the greatest sacrifice they could make. The Japanese were completely willing to crash planes into our ships, lauch suicide human wave assaults against our troops, and considered death preferable to surrender.

Would you like Japan to once again associate themselves with such values?

Then why would you defend a people willing to deliberately sacrifice their youth in the name of propaganda?

Assasinating a political leader, while reprehensible, is something quite different from sacrificing an innocent child in the name of politics.

Regards,

Ron

.... It's quite possible that the shooting of that young Palestinian was plain manipulation --

And do you think that Western generals and jackboot pols would recoil from using their own children --I mean, their peoples' children of course-- if they didn't have the technology to replace hundreds of battalions with computer gear, nuclear missiles, and "smart" bombs? After all, most American GIs who landed in Europe in 1944 were only 17 years old --same thing with thousands of Wehrmacht soldiers....

Gustave, You have gone WAY over the edge in trying to paint these two events as anything close to comparable!
