I had the unfortunate luck to be interviewing on the day of the shortfall announcement--at the very hour of it. Nope I don't think they are in a position to hire.

The "cutbacks" recently announced at Microsoft seems to be starkly at odds with "shortage of employees"...why do we need all the foreign visas? Reinforces my point. Though they haven't explicitly mentioned a hiring freeze.

I am now interviewing with an interesting web-media server company in the Seattle area, and it isn't Realnetworks (isn't that your area)?

I am all for cutting back on the number of high-tech visas though, after my experiences. And I think others will be too, going forward. Yeah I am worried about jobs going forward with the shitload of work permits for foreigners, in the middle of a slowdown.
