IPAA has recently estimnated that NG production will grow by 1.9% in 2001 and that useage will increase 3.4%. The gap is 4 TCF and would necessitate an 8.6% increase in imports just to maintain balance.
That is very unlikely, IMO.

It's not just the industry shutdown. Don't forget that the producers are not removing the high BTU hydrocarbons from the stream. If they did the draw would be MUCH greater.
