We have friends who have a house on the Gulf of St. Lawrence who have invited us to visit next summer. I am thinking of buying some Canadian dollar travelers checks now (no fee for me, daily exchange rates) in hopes of saving a couple of hundred dollars. Seems rather low risk to me.

Did I mention I also bought some of those Merrill warrants on the Euro? I tried for calls on the gold index today but they wouldn't meet my bid. (Do own CEF, ASA, PDG, and a handful of coins. Can one get a better deal selling actual maple leaf coins in Canada than in the US? I mean, can you go into a branch of the Bank of Canada and hand them over without too much of a commission?) We would be driving so I wouldn't have to get through an airport metal detector.

Please excuse questions, but don't know who else to ask.
