I just talked to InfoSpace Investor Relations to inquire primarily about the Locus acquisition and managed to touch on a few other matters. Thought I'd share with you and the board what I was told. Regarding the Locus acquisition, management still expects to close before year's end. I then asked about how the extreme decline in the company's stock may affect employee moral. The response was that employee's understand that InfoSpace is cash flow positive, and that for high tech. employees in the Seattle area other employment options don't look all that attractive on a relative basis, ie. Real Networks and its problems. I also asked if there was any further visibility into InfoSpace's future relationship with AT&T Wireless now that NTT DoCoMo will be partnering with it. The IR person told me that i-mode and InfoSpace's solution, while similar, have fundamental differences. InfoSpace hope to partner with AWE/NTT so that the services InfoSpace is currently offering AWE's customers will be offered over i-mode. i-mode doesn't replicate InfoSpace's services, such as merchant and directory services. She also said that it is now understood that AWE might take upwards of two years before it can offer i-mode over its networks because a significant amount of engineering will have to be done before that can happen. I asked about how international expansion is going and, in addition to mentioning Vodafone Australia and Austria One, said that there was some activity in Brazil but was no more specific than that. The Brazil news is news to me. When last I heard, they were just setting up shop there.

Hope this info is of use to anyone.

P.S. Good to see you Sarkie.

Sarkie~~ I can't find either Dogpile or Metacrawler on the INSP home page...OR SI!!!! Wonder why that is???

Check out what is still on the www.Go2Net.com page and then on the www.infospace.com page...

Also, on the Infospace homepage, there is an advertisement for something called Megaspider.... Not as good...

And....just for the heck of it.. on the infospace page, using the search engine there...put "+infospace" you will see how much it costs to advertise on various places on their page... On the go2net page, do the same thing... interesting...
