Hi Mike,

Re: Does anyone know what the problems are with the Ameritech region and DSL rollouts?

Sure, the guys in the corner offices think the rollouts are proceeding way too fast. Is that the problem you had in mind? <g>

Best, Ray :)

Mike:re Ameritech region and DSL rollouts?

as you know majority of 6 billion Pronto project ,which originally included Pac Bell and
Southwester Bell ( before Ameritech/SBC merger) went to Alcatel(DSL), which has increased
its shares of Pronto by Newbridge Acquisition (ATM switches and Newbridge management platform which former NN won with SBC).
Early this year SBC made complementary marketing/sales deal with CSCO to serve SBC customers on Ameritech territory only.
That deal included DSL , where Alcatel had also its smaller share of DSL in Ameritech.
What I was hearing that CSCO DSL did not even arrived to Ameritech labs as of September.
In such case SBC may(?) ask its major supplier to increase its effort on Ameritech area.
The problem may be parts . Last Q Alcatel said it will deliver 6 million line this year( of course this lines must be activated by carrier) around the world, and had order for 8-10 million this year.
