I don't think it is nescessarily a tradgedy every time the budget is not in balance.

I don't understand.....you don't think spending $293 billion on interest payments for our budget deficits is not a tragedy? I have to disagree...its more than a tragedy, its a crime.

The problem is that the deficits continued for decades. A large cause of the problem is that much of US spending goes towards entitlement programs.

The US should not be spending more than it's making...what ever the reason given, its simply an excuse to spend beyond our means.
