Bernie,
This is my third attempt to respond - keep losing aol connectivity!

In Dec 99, I was looking for a short fund, but went with BEARX because the ProFunds were so new and relatively small. Finally, in Sep 00, I went into USPIX as well.

I don't own any UOPIX, but I have been looking at AIMing my USPIX a little differently. Instead of going to cash as I take profits off the table, put the money into UOPIX. My rationale: if I'm selling USPIX at the best price, then I have to be getting UOPIX at the best price. Then whichever way the market moves, really makes no difference.

The key AIM factor at work: because I'm buying and selling based on portfolio value instead of number of shares, I'm compounding the number of shares I hold in each.

I haven't backtested this. I know this response is short, but I'm leaving town until after Jan 1. I hope we can explore this idea further.

Is this anything like what you had in mind?

Dave
