Folks that I talked to in the stores told me that there were much more shoppers yesterday than today ..

Most of the places that I went past and through today had parking lots at 50% or less filled.

Best Buy .. 50% lot .. on the first pass got a parking spot just two down from the handicap spot. Inside about half of the registers were open with only three or 4 people in line at each.

Two doors down at CompUSA there were no people in line at the registers. There were only about ten shoppers in the store. There was a guy from Apple there to help out. I talked with him about 15 minutes about tech stocks before someone else walked up with an Apple question. He told me that yesterday the store had sold six Apple computers. Today only one was sold.

Both were Ann Arbor stores.

On the news radio, in the car, reporters interviewing shoppers had found that every single shopper that they talked to was only shopping for only one last present .. every one. (Detroit station)

The largest mall, in Ann Arbor, had plenty of parking. The worst rows had empty parking spots about 3/4 down the row from the store. Most rows had spots available ~1/4 the way down the row.

Hudsons seemed to have the most traffic. Next would be Sears and JC Penneys ..

Overall .. most of the people exiting stores didn't have packages. Of those that did, most had small single bags.

K-Mart will stay open overnight tonight now.

It doesn't look good to me ..
