PJH - W will only be a raoming issue to Americans or Korean who go to Europe. The Europeans have put the barrier up to cdma2000 and get away with it because the US just doesn't bother to protect its great new companies as well as the Europeans do. Shame really but what can you do?

Still I understand why an SP would want some raoming especially from Europeans as the roaming charges are simply staggering and they want a piece. And of course you get it both ways, ie Koreans going to Europe and Europeans going to Korea. Well the Europeans going to Korea are in the main business travellers and therefore enjoying travelling the World as business travllers do at someone elses expense and that applies to their mobile costs as well so no-one cares about the costs and the Europeans know that very well and so now do the Korean SPs.

BUT that only concerns the European position. Japan, China, US, Australia etc will have full cdma2000 so the Korean SPs could get some good gouging there and vice versa.

Anyway back to basics. CDMA 20003X is supoosed to be much cheaper and the upgrade easier and by card replacement.

CDMA 20003X is supposed to be more efficient ie more customers per cell etc.

CDMA2000 3X has more applications and more funcionality.

In other words it is more economic.

So what is going on?

Best regards,

L

Re : "US, Japan, Korea -- we know WCDMA will be deployed ... "

We do NOT know.

We know that if everyone follows through on what they are saying ...

And if the technology works ...

And, and ... a lot of other things (including the availability of financing, for example) ...

Then ... it will happen.

I am of the school of thought espoused by Star Trek's Mr. Spock in an old episode :

No person can guarantee the actions of another person.
