About base station royalty

I have been wondering about this for a while....

Does anyone have even a remote clue what the infrastructure royalty is? It must have been material during Qualcomm's early days. They ramped up royalties before subscriber growth was really big.

I think an article about Nortel estimated that $11 Billion would be spent on 3G infrastructure. Just 1% would work out to an extra 14 cents. If the royalty is only calculated off of the value of the basestation, it would be considerably lower....but still material.
