That's good news. I've been expecting a rally, first after the election, then after the results were settled, then after the Fed meeting, then after all tax-loss selling was done. . .

I do think that once the new year starts that things will be much better. I do hope we get good earnings numbers and a good conference call.

Joe

pat and thread,

What worries me at this point is the high expectation built into the Fed's ease of interest rate.

Today, at least 2 major brokerages let out the word that it would take at least a 50 basis point cut to "put a floor on this market".

I seriously doubt that Greenspan would be this generous. He was never very aggressive on the way down, only on the way up.

hey pat,

hope you are having/had a wonderful holiday! been awhile. i've just been lurching the JDSU thread as of late to read yours, Ibexxs, and other good posters here. ;-) id like a little more of the optic dudes like glw and jdsu and am taking my time. my other favorites currently are qlgc (big surprise ;-), brcd, and csco but that's it right now.

<< Almost as tiring as watching "Vertical Limit," the just-released film on a daring rescue on K-2. >>

lol. i just saw that film last week at the IMAX theatre here in SF. great action film. nice simple and, of course, entertainingly implausable storyline about a sort of evil Ellison/Branson type. it was a hoot.

<< That's good news. I've been expecting a rally, first after the election, then after the results were settled, then after the Fed meeting, then after all tax-loss selling was done. . . >>

yes, same here. ;-( what really hit me specifically was the Msft warning (since I have followed tech, the 4th quarter has ALWAYS been strong). Am still long some favorites of course, but am nitpicking at some tax loss depreciators (it's a 'Bush' word ;-). hope to get a little more jdsu tomorrow. great to read your posts and thoughts, as always...

how 'bout this Winston Churchill quote for you and Ibexx-- "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few." He said that to the Royal Air Force in 1940, but damn, it sure sounds like the Nasdaq this year to me. ;-)

cheers,
pigboy
