CF - I don't think the Fed was targetting overseas markets or indeed US markets except for the NAZ. They certainly had nothing to worry about from the Dow.

The NAZ was it. The NAZ has been responsible for the greatest expansion in technology, prodictivity and indeed hope and wealth in mans entire history. No other institution has produced a benefit to mankind as the NAZ has done epsecially in the time that the NAZ has. Greater than Gt Britain in the Inustrial Revolution...etc.

THe Fed has targetted the NAZ and as a bye product it has blown up the World economy. I didn't mean to give the impression that I thought the Fed had targeted anthing else except the Naz.

The effects of that action are in the pipline now, the reductions in earning we are seeing are just the start. The economies of the World are winding down in a self fueling spiral.

The big US multinationals are feeling it now and we are going to see qtr after qtr of reductions in earnings as the slowdowns in each part of the World bring yet further reductions in business activity. The World is a lot more global than it has ever been and US multinationals incl say MSFT and INTC asn CSCO are the biggest and best multinationals and they are going to get creamed by this insane policy of ludicrously high interest rates.

Worse still it is going to take more than 2 qtrs from the time of the first serious interest rate redcutions before any effect is felt. Personally I can't see the effects of the current interest rates being elinated for at least a year unless we get a big reduction in Jan and then some!!!

Best regards,

L

"A Bearish Bush Has Economists Worrying" ... was the front page article on the L.A. Times web site until sundown. Then, it evaporated. Go to latimes.com now and you won't read a word about Cheney's comments. But the link continues to exist:

latimes.com

Perhaps the President-elect realized that you can only twist so many arms before you do some harm. The new "breaking news" is "Report Says Rabbi Abused Children".
latimes.com

and "7 Killed in Shooting at Internet Consulting Firm" latimes.com

It does make you wonder -- it being the L.A. Times, et al. You can almost hear GWB's Texan brain at work ... "if they don't like what we have to say, have them say something bad about those damn Jews and that Internet that Gore claims to have invented. For Christ's sake ... I'm gonna be President and it's Christams!"

Just when you thought that only Communists controlled their news, you learn something new about the U.S. Fortunately, the 'Net has an infinite memory.
