Thanks, Art, but you are mistaken. The short position of a stock, as a percentage of its float, is the critical number. Of course, trading volume is relevant, but day traders and arbitragers can make up much of the volume. The rise pf SNDK from 40 to 68 around the time of the SP 400 announcement was likely partially short-squeeze related. RMBS' rise, in February from 70 to 400, and then in June-July from 140 to 550, was the result of a massive short squeeze.

The shorts often get cavalier and short the wrong companies. I hope that it is what is happening here. If you don't ready yourself for the squeeze, you won't be able to recognize it when it happens and take advantage of it.
