What I was referring to is all that 401K money that needs to be parked somewhere. The first of January typically sees huge amounts of money released by corporations for employee investments, etc. Those who handle these investments really don't care that much where they put it, so long as it is off their desk. Likewise, employees are anxious to get it working and I believe that many such workers are seeing the markets as an opportunity to jump into great stocks at great prices. . . .whereas they missed the last such big opportunity which came late in 98. I don't think these types consider all the factors when they invest, as we do. But rather they invest according to the calendar. And that is why we tend to get a January effect each year. . . where smaller stocks tend to make sustained gains. . . .and where the market experiences a natural upward buoyancy. I didn't see any economic reports which would change my opinion about the economy. It is slowing faster than was expected. The FED knows this and is getting pressure from you name it to loosen the cap and cut some rates. . .perhaps even inject some more liquidity. But again, this only bears slightly on the sidelined money, to which I referred. I simply believe that many such corporate oriented investors choose to enter the markets because it is "time", rather than evaluating market condition and economy. This is my opinion. . .based on historicals and on mechanics. What I am specifically not referring to is the sidelined money by the savvy investors who went to cash. They will wait until the coast is clear before dipping their toe in the waters, IMO. Thanks for the question. It needed clarification. Hope you and your family are well. [I poured pasta water on my foot several days ago and was burned rather severely. . .so I'm spending the afternoon at the doctors, to make certain it does not get infected. . .had a slight fever this AM. Bringing oldest girl in, too. . . maybe I can get a VOLUME discount. >g<]You know its been a difficult year when you exchange Christmas cards with your healthcare staff. .. Take care, Rande Is
