U.S. COAL PRODUCTION UP 10% YEAR OVER YEAR TO 20.6 MILLION SHORT TONS

Any comments on playing coal demand as NG prices make coal plant maximum operation a sure thing?

Got PKD?

JQP <I was. Happy to take a 50% gain (bought on margin) in a week :o)>

.... "Q" you seem to have found some "endless Max Margin" Fountain of Youth (roflmao) ?

Oct 25 - you max margined directly into an OSX collapse from the 120's to 94 - re:

Hope you are right. Went to max margin this afternoon. >>

... right before you went "max margin" on Oct 25 - you posted about buying drillers & service co's - being "neutral" now on Nat Gas ie:

I am also nuetral on NG short term. 71 BCF doesn't seem large given the ideal conditions for both transportation of NG and minimal consumption.
On the flip side this is the third unusually large build in a row. We have had ideal weather for builds but I'm not confident that is all there is to it. I suspect some new GOM production was hooked up and turned on a few weeks ago.

Long term into late 2001 still extremely bullish. There is still a lot of industrial consumption that will come back online as the price goes down, and a lower prices will also favor NG for dual fuel applications. >>

...you also bought & margined tech; per your post below - way, way too early per your comments/exchange with MetalTrader (VBG):

based on bubble babble I've done the unimaginable here. Gone way into margin the day before yesterday in selected techs. Happily I was traveling during the firestorm yesterday a.m. so I didn't have to lament my decision within 24 hrs.

...you reply:

Agree 100% with your post. Have been thinking and doing the same thing with one additional point. There has been a mountain of cash building on the sidelines for months, a fact conveniently not stated by the bears on this thread.
Today has been a very good day in tech land for the solid companies (i.e. the companies who will still be in business in 12 months). Made up weeks of losses on the open. It's odd to see three weeks of doom and gloom, then POOF! it's all recovered in less than an hour.

It will be interesting to see how many longs were destroyed on the downside and how badly the shorters got whipsawed on the turnaround today. >>

... you chastised me for my NAZ short call here and you margined Tech here on Oct 19 directly into "part deux" of the NAZ meltdown.... nice call "Q" ~ the NAZ immediatley rolled over & tanked from the 3250 range to sub 2500 after your margined forray into Tech.

... so that Oct 25th "Max Margin" forray was off of some rather ill-timed tech plays - WCOM, LU et al a bit too early; then you trimmed your E&P's to rotate to driller & service co's - right at the OSX tanked from 120 to 94 directly into YOU - max margining them...

Nothing like buying WCOM calls at $22ish on Oct 26 + the premium - only to see it collpse directly to $14 shortly thereafter:

OT: Couldn't help but buy some WCOM LEAPs today>>

You quite obviously got your head handed to you on Tech - but yet again here; you're still endlessly buying on "Max Margin"...

Well, I'm done. Have exhausted all the remaining funds and margin in all of my accounts>>

But; now - you bought even more on "margin" again this week ?

... "Q" - even I don't mind a little hystrionic cheerleading from time to time & can ignore some of the "minor" fabrications & white lies here; but you take "chain pulling" to new heights ~ obviously; you've discovered the "Max Margin Fountain of Youth" (VBG).

...as the country song goes; "it's your story & you're sticking to it"... so well let you tell it for entertainment sake...
