RE:"Intel's only hope is that AMD fails to execute on its roadmap"

The way things are looking, that's a pretty good "hope"..

Kap,

Did you get fired from INTC? Why are you so, so bitter?

AMD's own roadmap shows no 2.0 until Q1 2002. So by Q4 2001 AMD will be back in the situation of their fastest chip being equivalent to INTC's slowest P4. The P4 then will be deep into the .13 transition and it is on this process that the speed can ramp very, very fast. AMD's design does not allow for this type of scaling (they have admitted as much).

I hope you don't suffer the same fate I have with my INTC investment. But I think you are letting past bad experiences cloud your judgement on INTC.

If I could fast forward the clock 6 months I would be very happy. It is the next few weeks and possible the next 6 months I am afraid of now.

good luck,

Kapkan, RE: "because I expect AMD to put INTC out in the next few years"

I would be careful. You sound like you are investing with emotion. If you've been burned by Intel, don't let it make you vulnerable into getting burned again, by way of an emotional leaning towards AMD.

I think Intel has around $14B in cash. They can generate in one quarter, enough cash to build a fab. I believe AMD would have a hard time building a fab on their cash - cash is always a big issue during any downturn in the market, which makes AMD vulnerable.

Also, from a product standpoint, AMD is beginning to fall behind again.

Regards,
Amy J

kapkan4u,

I have read your earlier posts and respect some of the calls you have made.

However, from some of your comments it seems like you have some old grudge against INTC. A lot of your posts are good but when you start making comments like "I expect AMD to put INTC out in the next few years" - sounds more like venting. Be careful someone might actually believe you for a fleeting second!
