100cfm: By far the most interesting competition to watch will be in current spectrum IMO. There it will be 1x vs GPRS.

And in Japan for example there is no GPRS, just CDMA and the legacy unique Japanese technologies.

In Korea, there is no GPRS either.

In the remainder of Asia there will be a test of GSM/GPRS vs 1x and the 1xEV. There will be side by side competition. (With China not a certainty, but a probability given the Chinese interest in participating in the game internally and for export - and CDMA/HDR (1xEV)are convenient means of doing so)

In the Americas there will be side by side competition.

1xEV will be key, so it will be 2002 before this can be judged with any degree of confidence.

As for new spectrum, the Q pulls in money whatever flavor of CDMA is used.

So, why worry?

Smile, and have a Happy New Year.

Best.
