This may be just wishful thinking. But I expect the higher margins will not be on raw memory cards, but on assembled applications. For instance, there is no technical reason why a picture bit map cannot be transferred to flash via a DRAM buffer. That should free the camera immediately. I don't know if that would be part of the camera or the flash card.

Aus what about all the generic sellers of compact flash? Fry's has generic 64 mb on sale for 79.95 While Best Buys Sunday add has Sandisk 64mb listed for 169.99 with a free reader/writer instantly with purchase, a 29.99 value..

The CompactFlash Association (CFA), an organization that supports the CF storage specification as a new industry storage standard has 137 member companies. SanDisk has transferred the CFA trademark and technical specifications to CFA which makes it available under a royalty free license to other third party manufacturers who commit to develop, manufacture and supply CF products.
