The key is that the rumor is not just for JDSU, others fiberoptic companies in Silicon Valley also did the same things, rumor said. that is a warning sign for a hot hot industry.

The real rumor is that they may have a 2 for 1 stock split after the shareholders' meeting. Too much going on JDSU looking forward.
1) As per November guidance, JDSU have stated that they see a very good 2 quarters going forward. JDSU problem is how to meet the demand.
2) SDLI/JDSU merger will help a lot JDSU.
3) Rate cut by the FED at the end of month.
4) Possible stock split.
Wait until end of the month and JDSU will be at least 60's or 70's.

I wouldn't put much thought into "the rumor" of forced shutdown. Seeing that the quarter ends in December and the fact that many companies shutdown between xmas and New Year's day - it would make a lot of sense to hold down costs by shutting down. You can't expect to book any new orders during that period, and you lose half of the employees anyway.
