Tippet, it is not tongue-in-cheek. Stock options (given responsibly) allow employees at all levels to participate in company's well-being and the stake they have in company's success is higher with the options. That does lead to increase in productivity. I am firmly convinced of that.

Of course, execs are not the people I am talking about. They don't really contribute to productivity as much as an "average" employee.
