Sorry to chime in here on this election debate, but I must right wrongs when I read them. The prior article by Phyllis Schlafly has a factual error, or at least a factual slight of hand. The fine state Massachusetts does (did) count dimpled chad. We had a big election problem a couple years back with one of our House Races [a primary with Delahunt (dem) -v- Johnston (dem)], that required the courts to rule that dimpled chad be counted. Of course since that problem, our intelligent election officials outlawed push ballots. I guess Phyllis can now make the statement that no other states count dimpled chad. -Jim

PS I am lurking with thought of investing on this one. I would love to get back to ideas/facts on GSTRF. Thanks

OT politics: In hindsight, all I want to add is thank you Janet Reno and Elian Gonzales. There's no doubt in my mind that Algore would have won Florida without the Easter picture. It backfired this time: Janet not getting her way and then unleashing the dogs of war in order to circumvent the rule of law. Algore's blunder: allowing this to occur. He knew he would lose votes if this happened, and a lot. He had plenty of time to check Janet thru Clinton. Oh well.

And PSCTEL, tell your wife we are democratic, but have a REPRESENTATIVE form of government. For two reasons. One, because communication was lacking 230 yrs ago. And second, because the founding fathers knew the masses weren't all that smart and it might be better to have an elected representative that was. As an example, the masses (dolts) in New York and California would have us all under socialism/communism if everyone's vote counted--even though it's in no one's interest. Just look who's senator in NY. A person who wanted to nationalize a third of our economy with the brilliant Magaziner in charge. Thank God we have an electoral college in place to check the masses.
