We don't have long to wait for earnings now. I think they would have told us by now if they were going to miss. Managing to hit estimates in this economy is a sign of real strength.

I'm suddenly in a good mood.

One other thing. Something that has been gnawing at me for the past day or so since I noticed it is that the December short interest didn't go up much. That selling was real. It may have been margin induced, but it wasn't a piling on by shorts.

So I don't think much of today's jump is shorts covering. It's real, too.
