Jefferson is nice, Neocon is more prone to posting some Peggy Noonan speech or other that Reagan stumbled through, again and again and again, as if it proves something.

Sorry if we messed up your conciliatory plans, but as you may have gathered, X and I share a certain amount of history with those guys. Unfortunately, I go back even further with them than X does, having had the dubious pleasure of having been present at the dawn of the Neocon era on SI. I was already well acquainted with the rest of the guys, on what supposedly started out to be a "liberal" thread on the impeachment issue. That being before the SI moderation era, needless to say it didn't end up being a liberal thread.

Did you ever read the Don Van Natta article from the NYT, that exposed the history of the Paula Jones case? Turns out it was run by the same guys all the way from planting the "Arkansas Trooper" storing in the American Spectator right up to delivering Linda Tripp to Starr. On of the guys running the show was a law partner of Starr's at his Chicago firm. Neocon's response to that one was my introduction a certain style of argument.

Cheers, Dan.
