Wow, that's an effort.

This we went through over various threads during the past 3 years, perhaps. The logic is based on the current front month on the SP.

The presumption is that history repeats itself. Patterns match and cycles return. So the effort is to try to filter out what the characteristic of the pattern is by identifying it's prior few patterns (along with other filters) and then going back in history to try to select a match.

Now obviously this is not infallible. But what it does do for me (and I hope SE) is provide me with a trading plan prior to the Open.

So today, for example, I shall be looking for a Sell about an hour into the session. If it sets up, I take it. If it does not set up, I fall back on Plan B. If Plan B is not setting up either then I take the day off.

It is sort of like a no-stress approach. The worst thing may be to allow the day to control me, so I attempt to control the day by making my decisions prior. By so doing I am less prone to making emotional decisions under pressure.

The actual manner of selecting these patterns takes a lot of time to learn. I think SE has been working on getting it to where he is happy with the results for a few years, on and off.

And of course, it is more art than science.

OpusX,

Perhaps the best introduction to daily pattern trading is through this fellow.
He's very good...and a friend of Patricks...!
