Alas, the festival also has at least one dog. I couldn't watch more than 20 minutes of "Very Mean Men," an agonizingly selfconscious "Pulp Fiction" wannabe in which characters discuss whether the professor and Mary Ann had sex on "Gilligan's Island." But an invigorating film festival should be about the process of discovering the good and bad for yourself - as long as there are good films to discover. And from what I've seen, there are.
