One can not rule out that possibility. One can also not rule out the possibility of a great year. Or both rolled into one.

One big difference between last year and this is that last year we longs had the Fed working diligently against us. This year (at least so far) they seem to be on our side.

Another big difference, which might account for some of what we're seeing, is Reg FD. In the past, if an analyst or big institutional investor got nervous, (s)he could pick up the phone and get some reassurance from the folks at investor relations; now they probably have to deal with the uncertainty, and we know they hate uncertainty most of all.

JMHO.

Whenever I catch myself thinking it's time to sell I go and purchase some protective puts. Whenever I've sold stock, it has been a temporary bottom, and I've regretted it. Same for puts, but your loss there is limited to the premium. Remember, the shorts are back in action, and won't go away until some positive news comes out, I'm hoping that the Jan 18 earnings release will scare them away.

(As you know, this is not investment advice, merely a suggestion based on my experience).

You've gone from advising "buy as much as you can afford" to "I am thinking of selling out" in just three days? I don't mean to be insulting, but doesn't that seem just a bit bipolar?

Well, at least those $25 limit buy orders I have sitting out there don't look as brain-damaged as they did a couple of days ago. I still plan to re-enter at that level if the market lets me.

Regards,
Paul

I'm thinking of selling out here.

Please do. Put an end to the charade.
You've made it to *my ignore list. Are others far behind?
