"Surely for a real guru...there is far more money to be made in the markets then flogging "calls"? "

OK, let's say someone is trading on their own and doing the research work everyday, and making good calls. Since they are doing the work anyway, why not derive a nice steady side income from publishing those calls too? What's wrong with that?

But perhaps we should take the discussion over to your thread -

Hey Parker! Why would you be concerned over what OJ does? If you're an expert in trading and willing to coach others, I won't grudge you if you charge a fee for your services.

And not every successful trader's goal is to sip margarita on a lonely island. Maybe your dream, but not for us. We're not motivated that way. Money is not an issue. It's the adrenalin rush of being able to trade with the best of them every day. Yeah, this is our island in the sun!

He doesn't give "picks" like that, silly.

He's got a good setup which any experienced active trader would have, but which I right now for example don't have. Rather than set it all up myself all by myself I like to experience it for awhile and learn as I go. So he monitors the futures very closely, and he has resistance and support triggers (buy and sell) on stocks we all like to watch and trade. You can ask him to look at any chart of any stock if you want. He never says, Buy this or sell this. He may for instance call sell short or buy long triggers on various stocks, so much so that he often doesn't get a chance to trade. If you're not in these stocks already (if you didn't hold overnight) or you're not feeling nimble, as for instnace in the gap in the first twenty minutes, you just listen to them and watch. There are no "picks" and in a sense you're trading alone but in a helpful community. In addition, Teresa's charting abilities and interpretive acumen adds a whole other dimension. They both post charts in the ispec room while the firetalk room is open.

It's nice to have somebody doing this for and with you, in a community, and people post their buys and sells as they do them, and it's interesting to watch. I haven't shorted a thing yet but will probably get my feet wet trying it on the QQQ in a very limited way. It's a very good learning experience for newer traders, and I suspect an enjoyable experience for the more seasoned. It adds a community dimension. And its not a nutsy feverish type of thing.

Sorry to go on so long but I've enjoyed it. And its a month by month renew at your own choice so if you have project work or a busy month you might not do it...and you might again the next month
