Since I was really to busy the last months, I moved most to cash a few months ago. Seems to have been a smart move. I only have a small AMD position left. Now I'm looking at some good entries. What do you think, is it too early? Hello....always good to hear from you....it sounds like the Xmas gods have been good to you. Here the sky is falling and we may all be dead soon....not one PC sold in America this Xmas and some think none will ever sell again. Its American thinking at its very best. ;~)) It was good that you moved to cash; you will be in good position when tech pick up again. I think it may be a little early to buy tech; while some appear to have bottomed...mostly the semis and the telecoms...keep in mind that the operative word is 'appear'. Should we go into a recession, even these stocks could go done further. The ones that still appear to be bottoming are the networkers, data storage and fiber optic.I was thinking about European telcos, but since some local governements here in Europe killed the golden goose with skyhigh license charges, I'm a bit scared. I would be careful with telecoms...I don't know much about the European ones but here, all but the best, are in financial difficulty from the buildout of their infrastructures and competition, and I expect there will be a shakeout. One European telecom my German friends like (but they may be unduly biased) is Deutsche Telekom AG.....apparently the gov't is getting out of owning them and my friends think that will free them to grow dramatically....they seem to have bottomed in the low 30's. What I have done is made a list of the tech that I like and when I think they have bottomed and are in a trading range, buy small portions at the bottom of their range. For an example, AMD seems to have bottomed and now is in a trading range from the hi 13's to 17. Therefore, I would want to pick some up (maybe 100-200 shares) in the 13's. That way you can develop a core position early on in the tech and can keep an eye on their movement but be free to invest what $$$ you have left over in other stuff thats moving right now....like energy, financials, retail, etc. Here's my list of tech that I plan to buy for when things pick up again: BRCD, JNPR or CSCO, VRTS, NOK, maybe AOL, maybe TOLG and KEI, NEWP, maybe TXCC, AMCC or PMCS, AREM (a European software company out of Cypress [of all places] and moving up really well) and of course AMD. The respect levels for AMD keep going up and they are getting a rep for being very innovative. And one very speculative one that I am picking up right now is AMZN. I am the one who hated this stock for years and refused to own it even though they were from Seattle and the mayor threatened that he might make me move...hehehehehe! However, they have been killed on the stock market in spite of the fact that their sales continue to grow tremendously....the alliance with Toys r Us this Xmas was very successful and Bezos, the ceo, swears they will be making a profit in 2001. They, along with EBAY and YHOO, are the three big American brand names on the net. You may want to check AMZN out...they seem to be bottoming in a trading range of $13-16.....but I am not sure the process is done so be careful if you decide to buy some.Maybe it's better to wait a little while. And oh yes, congratulations whith that new president you finally have. It was a great show for us all. A bright shining example for the world. You mean Captain Amerika.........4 years can be a long time. :~((P.S. Did they already found out who dropped that large metal piece of art in Seattle? Are you talking about one of our new skyscrapers or the new museum for music that was built by Paul Allen? Lately, a lot of metal seems to be dropping from the sky in Seattle but I am not sure that its art.<g>P.S.2 If you want to here some Belgian radio over the internet, try:msn.be Thanks. Will check it out. I just doubleclicked on the link and saw that it is in Flemish and French...how did you ever get les Belgiques to agree to have French be second on the link. ;~)) ted
