. Notice the article said they'd have to approve the bail out fee. The average California resident doesn't really give a sh*t about Wall Street or their bond ratings. But they do pay utility bills and vote. We'll see.

As distasteful to the dem legislators as it seems, they may have no choice.

Should the bail out pass CA consumers must consider this: In the past they have not gotten a hearing (let alone a sympathetic hearing) from the CA Supreme Court on this kind of issue. Unless they can force it into a federal venue, where do they have to vent their frustrations but the ballot box?

And I fully expect a political catharsis over this. More than a few consumer groups have vowed to take out any number of elected officials over this. No doubt they'll do it.
