It is already proven that gold has significant abilities to catalyse the oxidation of diverse compounds at unprecedented low temperatures. For example, suitably prepared gold catalysts can remove carbon monoxide from gas streams at room temperature, even in the presence of humidity. Gold is also known to have the ability to catalyse the reduction of NOx in vehicle exhaust fumes. Gold's capability is of particular interest with regard to diesel-powered vehicles, especially in view of impending environmental legislation. Published work confirms the usefulness of gold catalysts in respect of selective oxidation, hydrogenation, hydrochlorination and oxidation-decomposition. However, the work in the field has been fragmented, and researchers have rarely had the opportunity to interact. This deficiency will be addressed by New Industrial Uses of Gold 2001 - Catalytic Gold, to be held in scenic Cape Town in April 2001.
An exciting range of sessions is planned, encompassing carbon monoxide oxidation, environmental applications, automobile exhaust purification, the chemical industry, and electrocatalysts for fuel cells. Each session will begin with an invited, senior keynote speaker who will address scientific issues, followed by several technical presentations, and will conclude with an industry-led discussion forum on the challenges, opportunities and issues identified. An evening workshop on the mechanisms of catalysis in gold systems is sure to generate animated debate. There will be time on the conference programme for networking with colleagues from every continent. There is also an option of a post-conference technical visit to Sasol, world leaders in synthetic fuel manufacture.

Ya know Richard have you ever wondered why you continue to post here on GPM.when you seem to have a hate on for anyone
who thinks they might be able to make a few bucks on gold or that they simply believe that gold is money.
>>>>>> Reading this thread is like a visit to the mentally ill wing of a hospital, the paranoia, manipulation, and depression can make anyone sick.<<<<<<<<
I'm sure anyone who reads this thread has got to wonder why you post here. Is it possible that it is you who is paranoid or a bit ill. Perhaps you have a GPM fetish maybe you should get checked out. Ya know gold can affect people in strange ways don't let this go to far. :-)
>>>>>>>>> Just give me a good reason to buy gold, any reason. <<<<<<<<<
Well if you believe the gold price is manipulated you might ask yourself why banks or Governments would bother with a worthless yellow metal or you may agree that gold price should be manipulated to protect the dollar if so why ?
A while back I read where A Greenspan said that gold was the ultimate form of payment accepted by the whole world.
Well if big Al thinks it has value then me too.
Don't care if you are short- long- fat or skinny but I do wonder why you post here.
>>>>>>>> seems to be something “wired in” humans as it relates to fire, does that also occur for gold? <<<<<<<
Not sure Richard but if it does occur I think you got it.:-)
Now you take good care of yourself OK.

Richard, i've spoken to people who don't care for gold. one guy is a lifetime buddy who happened to marry a woman from south africa. i asked him if her family managed to get any dough out of there. he blushed and said, well, they got some gold out.

how much corn can you carry Richard ?

Great, Grrrrrrrrrrrrr-ate as the Corn Cereal Tiger would do.

The posts today on this gold price monitor thread,
super and superior especially since there has been
no bird droppings or anyone sneezing hutch-chew'ing
and last but yes least as in a flat yeast, no bon-bon'ing.

... what is this fatal attraction... with the yellow metal?
... as it relates to fire, does that also occur for gold?

Richard, physical gold is like aLoveaZone
where Wise Men & Women have no fear to go,
and they know what you know in what you show...

"... [si gold price monitor thread]is like a visit
to the mentally ill wing of a hospital,
the paranoia, manipulation, and depression
can make anyone sick."

as yes it can be intense from one extreme to the other,
fear joy down up too-hot too-cold wanna-puke and ofcourse
the name-calling which causes me to interrupt and suggest
that now that you have created a second spin off name
for the other Richard, from long-gone - longone - longoon
so now Even-Stephen we need a mazz??? or ???mazz or ma??
or let you have this golden opportunity to create one
for yourself that will be acceptable to you but also
be not-nice also. Suggestions = mazzoo mazoo mazone
maNOparkingZone maZapGold maZipGold...

... give me a good reason to buy gold, any reason.

One good reason not to buy gold is a possibility that
the Desert_Dirt_Story obtains aLife rather than aLie,
and eventhought the price of gold will become under $1
causing all current gold producers to belly up, there
will be a fortune to be made in selling shares in those
desert dirt companies bought in for 3 censt a share
and sold for 3 dollars a share once they corner the market.

Just to again mention your comment of,

"... [si GPM] is like a visit
to the mentally ill wing of a hospital..."

does have certain benefits, in that normal square
and boring types folks don't post here, and proof
of this is that you can not find post from

ChucaMarshmellow
ThorN
JACK_of_all_trades

to name a few, and to add that some only post
using a 1-Day-Pass like Ze'ev does.

off-topic

The following web site was under attack today,

Josh Wright, egroups's GoldWorldNet Moderator
egroups.com

by a gold/gata bug that gives gata nut i cause for hope.

Not sure where the Yukon is, Canada or Alaska or Hawaii
but person is called YGN Yukon Gold or something
and does he post-on strong is is it cold at north pole.

Rumer is that he put Bob Johnson into a Web Hospital.

Flowers to Bob can be sent to the hospital's ICU.

richard, you can't eat green paper either..All a question of confidence whether you use gold or paper as an exchange medium...now I understand some brokerage companies are starting to recommend gold as an investment...Salomon Smith Barney, another fatal attraction, another mentally ill group..I don't look at fundamentals as you know, my head may be in the sand...But after 20 years of waiting the tide is finally changing..The pattern is there..That is what I see..Right shoulder forming...
When I called BRCM as a short on the BRCM thread at 240, I was persecuted by several posters..They were silenced, and so shall you and other doubters...90 days and counting...
