Holy Gawd, what a horrific story about the 16 year old killing his family because of a quarrel about chores. I truly believe that private ownership of guns creates far more destruction than it does "protection".

It's not just adolescents who have poor impulse control, IMO. That kind of temper-flaring impulsive behavior is in evidence throughout the population, particularly when alcohol's involved.

I'm impressed to hear that you ask, and have been asked, about whether there are guns in the house when children go for a sleepover. It makes enormous sense to me.

My grandfather was the Chief of Police in the town I grew up. His first son, aged four, found his gun in the bedside table and blew off his head while playing with it.

Hi X,

We used to talk once in awhile..

But on to the link about the killings in Addy Wa.. this little town is about 60 miles from our home place.. It is one of "Red Counties" that Bushites are so extremely willing to put up.. It now contains many people obseessed with guns... Many people were drawn to the area, 20 years or so ago.. because of cheap land and the natural beauty , if you likes that type of thing.

But it is disturbing to me and my brother, that still lives there, although he is more conservative than I am.. But these people have a vote, they have a say.. Many fought Bill Gates' proposal for trigger locks.. Most don't like the west side.. But what do I say..???

I don't know, what to say, except I'm sorry for their loved ones....

c

It is certainly a very terrible circumstance, but if that family had no guns, then the kid would have used a hatchet or a kitchen knife, the kid was pathetically bent on vengeance against his parents and family, any weapon would do... but just because that stupid kid chose a firearm some how makes the situation more provocative... blaming the instrument is like blaming the messenger... why don't we just ban and register all kitchen knives already.....
