>A four hour expedition into the "Badlands" of the Mojave Desert with no roads for cars to reach a cellular "Dead Spot".. And even half way into this 4 hour journey.. There was still a Cellular Signal??>

How come I still can't get a cellular signal in parts of Route 78 in crowded New Jersey?

My rebuttal to " ... halfway into this 4 hour journey ... there was still a cellular signal"

Do not forget -- unless it happens to be with your own wireless carrier (mine is Sprint PCS), one would be forced (with a lot of calling plans) to pay per minute roaming charges, which would take the cost of the call up at least part of the way to the Globalstar per minute charge.

Plus, even when I have "4 bars" of wireless signal strength, the quality of my Sprint PCS calls is ALWAYS worse than that of my Globalstar calls.

(I know this because -- when I am using my G* phone just for fun, I always call someone first on my Sprint PCS phone first, to make sure they are there, and then call them back on my G* phone.

EVERY single person has told me that the G* phone sounded much better than the Sprint PCS phone).

And ... I doubt that one would have "4 bars" of signal strength out in the middle of "nowhere" ...

Jon.

>>>Why is it structured that way?<<< Ask Bernie; he's always generous with information, Ha.

>>> After all. The reason that the Service Providers were to get "The Lions Share" of the Revenue is that they were the Retailer.. It was their reward for Buying, Installing, Licensing the Gateways, and setting up the retail marketing.. So it only made sense.. They were going to have to fund the Advertising/Marketing.. GLP was just a Wholesaler. GLP was going to set back. Collect royalties on UT's and Gateways, and collect their .47 cents a minute.. That's about it!! >>>

Yes we've been snookered. SPs are not towing the line with investments, advertising, product support, etc. etc. Bernie has had to pick up the slack to keep G* alive. (barely alive on our backs and depending on life support).

On another topic does anyone know when Bernie will be speaking at the upcoming satellite conference?? Last time he spoke publicly the damage was pretty significant. Maybe he won't say anything this time, just wave and do shadow puppets.
