It does not seem that not much matters but buying extreme fear and selling ANY optimism.

I agree and this really is something that is not new but it is much more obvious now with the extreme market volatility of late. I refer to your above description as going against the grain. I sell rallies and buy sell-offs, going against the herd mentality if you will. In fact that is what this thread is about, learning how to identify the tops and bottoms by use of oscillators, trend lines and candle sticks.

Someone on another thread ridiculed me as "the high priest of doom and gloom"

I’m sure the same can be said about me although I tend to express my bearish thoughts with a chart rather than precise words. As I said earlier, the posters here are realists. Most of us swing trade, some trade options as well.

You have yet responded to my private comments that I had not edited my post properly as the post contained TA comments directed towards others you could not see.

I was actually in a hurry this morning and didn’t want to give you an answer until I had the time to give your PM some thought. I have made similar edit mistakes so I believe you. You aren’t the first person that has views about TA that may differ from my own. Each of us has our own comfort level in the information we choose to use when we make buy and sell decisions. TA is not an easy topic to learn and to trust. It takes practice.

I don’t think that anyone here was offended in any way, me included. This has always been a face value thread, which contains no harsh posts by anyone. It is a place where we gather each day to share ideas and learn a little about technical analysis. I cant think of anyone who posts on this thread that I would not feel comfortable inviting to my home.

That said, if I jumped the gun and misinterpreted your post yesterday I apologize to you, I only want to protect the integrity of this thread and keep it a comfortable place for all.

Feel free to join us.
