Yes. I find that deeply troubling. I understand the need, and the desire, for people living in a complex world to relax seeing entertainment that is simplistic. But is it "good" for them- will it make them into moral people (as I, of course, define morality- which is basically to say will it make people the way I like them to be, or another way?). And I have to say that I do not like violence. It pains me to watch people suffer in movies- even bad guys. I don't want to see ANYONE tortured. I don't care if they were an evil megalomaniac out to dominate the world- I still don't want to become the kind of person that views torture as entertainment.

Mr X tells me that watching mayhem and murder is a guy thing. I don't know if that is true. Does it have to be a guy thing? Is it good that it is a guy thing? Is it something we should encourage as a society? Is it any wonder, if what Mr X says is true, that the people who go in to shoot up their schools are almost entirely male?
