A few months ago we were leaving a Japanese Restaurant and this guy came up to us and rather apologetically asked for a few minutes of our time. I thought he was doing a survey or something. In the most sincere, articulate, though incredible, presentation I've ever heard from such a scammer this guy said he just, and finally, got a job at Applied Materials but he needed some cash to pay for his wife's and kid's stay at a local motel.
Weird story but I had to admire his artfulness. But I knew he was getting some of our cash because my wife is always completely crestfallen by this kind of crap.
Same with those thirty year oldish "Nam vets" in fatigues. Cheez-its!
