I respectfully disagree. It is ideals first (for adults). This nation was instituted on the grounds that its founders rejected national ideals and sought to establish a nation founded on certain principles. Many immigrants then left "their" nation to seek belonging in this nation for ideological reasons. Granted, many also came for materialistic gain only. People may reject culture, nationality, even family roots for ideals and we typically think highly of those who have made such sacrifices.
