Sorry, the newspapers I read said it was 5-4, the Court reporting services say it was 5-4 and, GUESS WHAT: The Justices themselves say it was 5-4.

Now, a bunch of conservative ideologues who call themselves journalists have grown fond of saying it was 7-2, and Justices O'Connor and Kennedy said that 7 justices agreed that there was an equal protection issue that needed to be addressed in order to to make themselves feel better about the political crime they were committing (what many believe will be seen historically as the worst decision made by the USSC since Plessy v. Ferguson) . . . . . but that doesn't make it true.

It was 5-4, officially.
