PDT - correction, as Scott posted, LeoWeb also is a standalone software. Should update my spreadsheet.
I always get mixed up as Refco also has a browser based interface.

Scott also has posted before that LeoWeb draws a larger cost per transaction than BestDirect, resulting in higher RT fees.
BestDirect also has a click'n-trade feature with all needed info on the same window (buying power,....).
These are the main differences.

Difference of standalone and browser based applications is an extra speed of the standalone application (they handle directly Layer 3 communications) as opposed to browser based which have to negociate threads with a truckload of dll's and ocx'es (this can add up to seconds).
Only important if you are daytrading.

Java based trading platforms are faster than browser based, but it is very difficult to maintain the proper Java flavour for that particular application. Windows registry gets messed up as almost every Java enabled Windows application loads it's own flavour (I have 6 Java runtimes on my machine in different directories. It can be much worse on a business computer).

After using the system at PMB, then Leo, and now using BEST, and trading only the e-mini....the only thing I can say is what I prefer, maybe you will prefer different, so since all of them offer trials of their respective systems....try them....
