Amen to that... can you imagine "real" reality programming? I did see some surprising honesty used against Disney in a recent Saturday Night Live episode. Actually shocked it made it to re-run. I don't think the dumbed down population that current programming is aimed at has the bucks to keep this going. All depends on who's at the printing press...

Lived here all my life- My ancestors may have come over on the 1st boat. I don't think the quality of media programming or the course of education has anything to do with natural intelligence.

The media plays to the sensational- it's all a matter of economics. Sensationalism sells, sex sells, violence sells. It's perfectly understandable in a capitalist sense.

Not that I don't agree that our education system is lacking in direction. It certainly is. Public schools are run by industrial age methods, and need to change badly to prepare students for the information age.

I think you are confusing knowledge and judgement with intelligence. Intelligence is primarily genetic, and genes don't evolve that quickly in humans.
