That is the way it is, talk to Bill about it... On my last laptop, I had to run ScanDisk once every 3-4 days or it would take forever to boot up to the login prompt... The first time I ran after 3 months of heavy use on my 1st Gateway Laptop (3 laptops ago) it took something like 12 hrs on a 6 Gig drive... 98 IMO is junk, and I'm not to keen on Gateway either. I have a DELL Latitude that I run now, I can get 10hrs on the (2) batteries... vs 2hrs on the Gateway Gotta go.. PS I'm thinking that trip to 09 is very possible now FWIW...
