A friendly reminder - might be worth it to check your long distance rates...

I don't know about anyone else, but I am constantly harassed by MCI - I always decline their calls because of a stubborn tie I have to AT&T. I got a call last week again from MCI, a very nice lady wanting to "bid me rates". First I told her I'd need to call AT&T to get figures on what I am currently paying. I hadn't called on my rates for at least 8 - 12 months. AT&T dropped my rates on my business lines to 9.6 cents/ minute for in state calls - both for my toll free # and my direct dials. Next I called on my home line - which they dropped to 7 cents a minute plus a $4.95/mo fee.

Although it was my understanding that all this time on my home line I was paying $4.95/minute plus 10 cents - I'd actually been getting a % discount - which sometimes cost me up to 18 cents a minute. Quite a difference.

Today the nice MCI lady phoned me back to follow up - she couldn't beat the AT&T rates. I bet they still call me though!

Anyway, this is one of the things I really don't pay attention too, but thought I'd pass on a reminder - might be worth it to someone.
