You do know that it was the Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) and Southern California Edison (SCE) who wanted de-regulation in the first place, right? They were the ones who helped to draft the legislation for de-regulation. They then sold off their power plants on their own. The government of California had nothing to do with it. Department of Water and Power (DWP) in Los Angeles is fine and is not having the same problems.

I don't like bailouts either and the Board of Directors at PG&E and SCE should be thrown out. They've yet to take responsiblity for their actions. All I see are ads on TV from them about how we all need to do our part to help.

Tunica-Do not forget that Californians brought this on themselves by not building any new power plants for at least 10 years. No nukes, fossil fuels too dirty, etc. Let the other states have those problems... The answer is clear. Deregulate the pricing to consumers and let these tree huggers PAY.

Let the businesses that need electricity relocate to states that have ample supply. The businesses certainly won't go under, they'll relocate. How long does it take to set up Steel Case cubes anyway...for those that aren't telecommuting anyway.
