However, your point is that to short it as a LT short, consistent short, you should have some detailed information and clear research to indicate it's permanently a dead meat situation (like a few dot coms that we all KNEW and considered LT unviable).

In JDSU's case, that's absolutely NOT true,

Steve,
That's the beauty of today's market for those of us with enough discretion to have significant cash on hand. The dotcom bust put the fear of god into all the weak traders. They bailed out of all high flyers because they don't get the difference. As most of us on this thread know, fiber is not some kind of speculative business model, it's real hard cash and lots of it.

Wish I were one of those people with discretion. :-)

Bill

Josie knows that public sentiment on this thread ain't going to influence the stock 1 iota. However, I think it was Jake that was lamenting on being badgered by TA that he thinks, ST, the stock is not yet a buy. TA took that as a sign of the "time to go on the bullish offensive again", and proceeded to flood the thread with hearty data on why it's time to buy.

I think you give Josie too much credit, but your other points are well-taken. If shorts like Josie didn't think their posts affected sentiment, they wouldn't bother. After all, their time horizon is minutes to hours, not days, weeks, months. Why pop in on a totally new thread just to pass the time of day? Why not stay on one where you're recognized and casual posts are just that?

I appreciate Jake's negative comments b/c I know he's serious and isn't trying to promote a negative bias. He simply has honest concerns. I believe Stocker is the same. Of course I think they're both misguided, but that's my bias. :)

Incidentally, NUFO has gone up 50% in two days. Now that's a serious move to miss.

<flood the thread with hearty data on

here is some commentary that makes a lot of sense to me,
as I have been talking about the NASD completing a "W"
type bottom on the daily chart for a few days.

Nasdaq to complete base and 2's may break a 6-week falling yield trend : Nasdaq is up another 2.83% on
the day and looks set to break the key 2,644 3-week high - so completing a double base from the Jan 03
and 08 lows targeting a measured move to the 2,900/90 area. The 3 and 8 day moving averages are
positive, the 14 day RSI is pointing higher and the MACD is in buy mode. Weekly indicators have yet to
revert positive but a close above 2,700 by Friday will do the trick. This has ominous implications for the
2-year which has already bounced from its 4.56% Jan 8 lows to 4.77% today. Trend resistance from the
late Nov 5.86% highs is met at 4.87% and is falling at 3 bps per day. With the 3-day average about to cross
up through the 8-day average for the first time since late November an upside correction towards the
5.05% could well be underway.

I'll be watching to see if we get a cross over of the
very influential 5&21 day exponential Moving averages
occur. There is major institutional and hedge fund money
that rotates in and out of equities as a percentage of
their asset allocation models when this occurs
