Saturn V,

For whatever reason, I think you'll find that HP's quarters are lagged one month from everybody else's. Their fourth quarter doesn't end until the end of this month.

They may be stupid but they're not brain-damaged.

Saturn,<<<My gut feeling is that if the company gets into the mode of releasing extremely conservative estimates, the analysts will inevitably wise up to that,>>>

My, my. You have an extremely high regard for these analysts that I don't in any way share. IMO many of these analysts don't do extensive research of their own and take company guidance, tweak it, and use the results to promote their own agenda.

Also, you give Intel too much credit - as if they have some high minded rationale for their Modus Operandi - or that they know their business well enough to provide reasonably accurate guidance.

It is because of their incredibly inaccurate guidance history that I suggest they set guidance to a level they know they can achieve instead of shooting from the hips with some macho bravado type of estimate (without rhyme or reason)that they are prone to.
